Mill Run at Greenville,NC Where is Green Mill Run located? Green Mill Run (GMR) is a popular stream for collecting fossils that runs through lower Greenville, NC. It is located just off of South Elm Street in Greenville, just south of the University. Below are some maps showing the location. Although there is no specific address for GMR, I use the "address" 1000 S. Elm Street, Greenville, NC when getting directions from websites such as Mapquest. Directions to Green Mill Run: I recommend that you use mapquest to get accurate directions to GMR in Greenville, NC. I live in Maryland, so I usually head south on I-95, staying on it as I go through Virginia, and then on into North Carolina. I get off at the Rocky Mount exit, route # 64 East. Follow route #64 until you come to route 13/11. Head south on route 13/11 towards Greenville. Follow rt.# 13/11 until you hit route #264 ALT. Follow this down and around until you come to S. Elm Street. turn right on S. Elm street and go a few blocks, keeping an eye out for a small parking lot on the right, in between a small baseball field and tennis courts. Park here. The stream is only a hundred yards away! Maps and Aerial Views of Greenville, NC Here are several maps from Mapquest, as well as some aerial views showing Green Mill Run in Greenville, NC. I hope the information on collecting and stream location were helpful. Please provide me with feedback if you have anything to add!
Above is a close up map from mapquest showing the location of the parking lot on S. Elm Street.
Above is a map showing the route leaving Greenville to go east towards Lee Creek. I usually stay in one of the cheesy motels in Washington, NC. Washington is only 20 miles from Greenville, and it's only a little more than a half-hour drive out to the mine in Aurora. |
